My long door car regulator is sticking occasionally. Remove the cover and give the contacts a flick and all is OK.

What might cause this and how do I fix it permanently? The regulator is from Bareco and was fitted it recently. The car has now done 240 miles.

Hi John
Did you polarise the regulator? If you haven't done this the generator does not know if it positive or negative earth.
you may have to sand the contacts with 1200 grit sandpaper to get rid of the arc points.
hope this helps.

Thanks Johnno. Yep, I polarised it when the electrickery was installed.
I have found a good document via the TR Register UK.

I will gently clean the contacts and see what happens. I'm taking the car over to Aladdin's place tomorrow so that will test it.

My friendly auto electrician just came around. The new Register regulator points have burned out after 240 miles on the road.
I'll get a new one from Ray tomorrow.
