It has been a long time since I assembled a head. This is my low port head for the long door TR2. The valves, collars etc are all Moss items. I expected the collar to sit in the centre of the springs. The springs are centred in the indent in the head.
Is this normal?

Looks as though you have the wrong dia springs.

Hi John. What does a fine arts graduate know about TR engines? Anyway it would appear to me that if the the engine has the required double inlet springs and triple exhaust and the collars are correct this misalignment simply cannot occur. Even if the valve seats and valve stems are out of alignment it shouldn't happen.

John
Should not look like that.
Suggest the top cap or springs are incorrect.
The spring set up on the high port and low port TR2/3/3A is the same. check with your other head(s).

It appears I have the double spring caps when I should have the triple spring caps, even though I'm not using the 3rd spring. The Moss site said these caps are for TR2-4A, my mistake but luckily not an expensive one.
Anybody need the double spring caps?
On the good side, I found the manifold studs so once I have the right caps it will be a complete head.
