Hello Gentlemen, What's the latest consensus on rear main oil seals? Is the outer German type the best option? Having the large seal means a high speed lip surface, are they lasting? Can anyone suggest the best place to buy one? I am tempted to go original and file fit the 2 halfs for a tighter fit? Don't want to get the scroll machined off. All thoughts appreciated.
Regards, Rob.

When I rebuilt my engine I paid specific attention to the mating faces and getting the same clearance crank to seal all round and now do not have any problems with the original seal. I also fitted the bearing cap as original with felt packing soaked in shellac. I traveled about 10,000 k's last 12 months.

Thanks Peter, think I'll go new original scroll. It was quite a while ago when I did up a 4 cyl TR engine and would of used the original type seal then, but it did always have a small dip around there. I actually think most TRs 'mark their spot' from all different areas and the rear main cops the blame.
Thanks again,
Rob
