I just came back from the Volkswagon annual beano at Nambucca Heads. It's the 30 year annaversery of the meetings at Nambucca. This year we had all VW clubs coming together = Kombis, beetles, buggies, vees - to have about 500 volkswagons of all descriptions. The big display is Saturday morning - they close off the main street for the morning and have the 500 car parade parked up in the street (for over a km long). The 4 day meet includes concourse, competition, food and friendship.

It's a huge event and attracts much notice. It may be useful to consider a combined concours - TR-Register and TSOA to make one large, reportable and pubic event which will increase the interest in all TRiumphs. TSOA have the same problems as us. This way we all win.

Cheers Bill

One could easily muse on the potential source of confusion with MG, based on which Automotive brand marketed and made the "T" designation the most recognised in the world. MG introduced the "T" series in 1936 running through 1955, so why would we expect the public to recognise "TR" as anything other than an "MG"?

Maybe Triumph Sidescreens is a more accurate description of what we are into and more easily fits with conflicting perceptions?

Getting such ideas adopted however might be a greater challenge than getting smarts out of our legislators?
We live in hope!

Bill,
I have found that our events which also have Other TR's as in Adelaide for example have been the most interesting. There is a considerable increase in joint events with TSOA etc and even MG!! which shows that this idea works and is probably necessary for the survival of all our clubs.
TR's and VW's might be and interesting combo?
